... AIPAS - Animal Side ...

This weeks AIPAS (Australian Indie Polish Appreciation Society) theme is Animal Side! Manis that are inspired by animals!

I chose this oldie because a) I really like it and b) it's up there with the first Aussie indies that I ever owned.

This is "Aussie Bee" by Peita's Polish which is a beautiful bright sheer yellow with an assortment of different sized black hexes. I've layered this over white (OPI Alpine Snow) just to show off it's superb colour!

The bees are from the QA2 plate which is a Winnie the Pooh themed octagonal shaped stamping plate that I brought from eBay many years ago.

I think Aussie Bee is a fantastic yellow polish. It will always hold many memories for me so I'm glad to get the chance to feature it this month!

... AN Monday - St Patricks Day ...

Happy St Patricks Day people! And I'm definitely glad I gave AN Monday a go this week as I don't think I've managed to actually do a St Pattys Day mani since I've started blogging and I really wanted to fix that!

Long term followers will know that I have a bit of a warped sense of humour and when I was flicking through my stamping plates to find something suitable for today, I came across something that I just had to use!

Ah Patrick Star, you legend! Patrick is from the Fun11 plate from FabUrNails which is seriously fast becoming my favourite stamping plate because of all the awesomeness that it seems to include! So many fantastic characters! The 4 leaf clovers are from the Mash18 plate.

All the polishes used today are from the fab range over at Ulta3. The base colour is Emerald Inten-City and the glitter is appropriately Luck Of The Irish. Patrick is made from Strawberry Sundae, Sizzling Red, Jelly and Purple Pumps. I've also used Lily White and Black Satin for the stamping.

... Piglet Nails ...

Hi! My name is Sarah Claire and I hate using striping tape. There. I said it!! It's something that I just cannot get right and it frustrates me greatly. It's fiddly and it never goes where I want it too. If I ever get it positioned right, it will move or leak under the edges. Ugh! One day I'll work out how to conquer the stripes! I'm determined. So this is todays attempt which I feel is getting better but let's not dwell on the frustration, onto the cuteness!!

So this is Zoya Barbie and Zoya Lara with the cute piglet from the FUN11 stamping plate (yes! Reverse stamped as always. That technique has changed my life!). Zoya Barbie is my #1 most used Zoya as it seems to work for a lot of things. It's the perfect pink!

So even though I'm not happy with my stripes, I still love the cuteness of this and think it's rather awesome. If you haven't invested in some of the plates from the FUN range, then go check them out. So many cute characters for your money and I've had no issues with them not stamping perfectly every time.

Hurrah!  Now I've also been a bit of a busy bee, reorganising polishes and stash lists and I'm starting to clean out polishes again as I am overflowing and space is becoming a real issue. I've put my blogsale back up on the toolbar and am slowly adding things in that need rehoming. Hard work!

... AN Monday - Bridal Nails ...

YAY! Aussie Nail Monday! Todays theme is Bridal Nails and I was quite looking forward to trying these. I hate to say it but when I got married, I don't think I had anything on my nails. I was 21 and definitely not in a polish phase. I do regret this but I'm making up for that period!

I decided to use Illamasqua Pink Raindrops with stamping from Konad plate m82. I'm happy with the results. Simple yet classy. I'll definitely have to try Pink Raindrops again in the future as it was really pretty.

I think next time I need to line up the stamping a little bit better but I'm happy that I managed to get the image all the correct way around! Hoorah for small steps!

Now ... speaking of wedding! Have a selfie of moi after attending a wedding over the weekend for my cousin!

Super rare treat for you right there! Aren't you glad you checked the blog! I only appear every 12 months or so as I usually just keep to the nails. Feel the love!!

... piCture pOlish - Abstract Nails ...

Something a bit different from me today. I'm not sure exactly what to call it so I'm just going to go with "abstract"! (If anyone else has a different word that describes them better I'd love to hear it!)

I've used a combo of piCture pOlish polishes for the base including Mellow Yellow, Bright White, Candy, Jade and Mad Magenta.

I kind of dabbed them on in patches of colour which made an interesting effect.  Then on top I've used black polish and the MoYou Artist Collection 03 plate for the design. If you haven't jumped on the MoYou train then I'd highly suggest getting your hands on some! It's worth the wait and definitely worth the money!

The stamping design is a bit of everything. Dots, stripes, patterns and I think it doesn't look too bad against the colourful backdrop of the 5 base colours. It's not something I usually put on my nails but I'm really glad I did as I got quite a few comments on this manicure as it was so striking!

I think I need to use a lot more of these happy summer colours this year. I really liked how they looked against my skin when combined.

... Aussie Nail Monday - Stripes ...

Hey Ho! It's been awhile and I've definitely enjoyed my holiday break and I hope you all have had a great start to the new year. Now it's back to business with my favourite thing about the beginning of the week, Aussie Nail Monday!! YAY!

Todays theme is stripes and after various fails, I ended up with this pretty combo which I quite like and think is striking.

The base purple is the beautiful Peita's Potion from Lilypad Lacquer and I've stamped over the top with Konad White and the stamping plate is QA3 which is an octagonal plate that I've picked up somewhere in my travels.

I still haven't quite got the hang of stamping perfect horizontal lines but it's definitely a lot better from last time I attempted stripes! Why must something that looks so simple be so difficult??

While I just can't seem to go totally square, this is the most square I've been in a long time so it's a change. I wanted to try something different this year and set some challenges (note to self put up a proper post on goals!)

... Aussie Nail Holiday Art - Sweet Treats ...

Woohoo! 3 days in a row! *big grin* Todays theme is Sweet Treats and I've just gone the easy option and picked Candy Canes since I don't have a lot of time this morning to work with. Mmmmmm Candy Canes *homer drool*

I've chosen China Glaze Ruby Pumps as the base which I'm so thankful that I hung onto. As much as I love the look of red polishes, they just don't love me back the same way.  I've stamped using the Vivid Lacquer plate VL007.

In hindsight, I probably should have lined up the stripes a bit better but I think it still looks ok. Besides, everyone knows that when you pick up a Candy Cane that the stripes aren't always perfect!

If anything, all this did was make me hungry!! Nom nom nom!

... Aussie Nails Monday - Pets ...

I'm really trying to get back on the bandwagon even if I only appear once a week to start with. Here we go again!

Todays theme was "Pets". While this is not my best work, I still wanted to showcase it. I'm really enjoying "reverse stamping" and I'm sure it'll get better with time. I know a few of you have had questions and I will put up an FAQ soon for you all!

I've reversed stamped using the Cheeky Jumbo Plate #9 Wild at Heart and all these colours are from the great Aussie brand Ulta3. I've used a combo of Ulta3 Metal, Lily White, Calypso Holiday, Silver Grey, Stardust, Antique Gold, Black Satin and  Bo Peep.

I love the blue accent nail but I think that it would have been better without using Metal and Antique Gold for the cat and dog. They just seem to be too shiny for this to work but I'm really pleased with how reverse stamping is working for me! Woohoo!

... Orly - Coachella Dweller ...

Orly - Coachella Dweller
$18.95 AUD at selected stockists. Check the Orly Australia website!

Howdy everyone! I hope you all enjoyed a spiffy Easter. I've personally had some well deserved time off and now I'm planning to do some major catching up before the school holidays are on top of me!

Today I have this beauty to show you from the Orly Hope & Freedom collection. I was quite excited actually as while I've seen Orly from time to time in Australia, I haven't seen new collections! Woo! Anyway, the Hope & Freedom collection is described as "reminiscent of a crisp Autumn garden with a soft green, two shades of blue, a sunny yellow, pinky red and a milky white making up the pretty palette". They are also 3 free [hoorah!] and come with the soft gripper cap that I love to use as it's super soft [slight problem is my cat seems to love the caps aswell ... probably a good thing that the caps don't come as cat toys or I'd go broke within a week]

So this super pretty number is Coachella Dweller [say that 10 times fast!], which is a pretty green creme and do not be fooled if your bottle is slightly on the more liquid side as I found flowed really smoothly on the nail which was a pleasant surprise!!!
I've used 3 coats for these swatches and had some great wear from it aswell for those reading who like longevity in their polish!
Even without a top coat it's shiner than end of the day autumn glare blinding you through the window! Perfect for those who like glossy polishes with that super smooth finish.
And as always, I can't leave anything alone ... here it is with some leopard print stamping! I really liked it as it  being a pastel base. It was striking but not overpowering!
I used the Konad m81 for this funky design with black polish. Easy!

For more information on Orly in Australia, you can find them on Facebook here www.facebook.com/ORLYAustralia and also on Twitter @ORLYAustralia

Polishes were provided for review but all opinions, Aussie humour and dodgy photography are my own!

... Aussie Nails Monday - "Stripes" featuring piCture pOlish Marine, Mad Magenta and Black ...

Wayhey! Happy Monday! Todays Aussie Nails Monday is "Stripes" and here is my take on it! I was quite please with how it worked out to be honest.
Firstly I sponged piCture pOlish Marine and Mad Magenta and then stamped on top using piCture pOlish Black and the Konad S6 plate.
I always love how Mad Magenta changes from a pink to a purple and I love where these 2 colours meet - it's like a funky indigo going on there!

... 7 days 7 ways - Day 7 ... Stamping

Final Day! Hoorah!!! I realise that I already did stamping but I forgot and this turned out so pretty it seemed a shame to waste it.
These designs are from the Konad m59 plate and I flipped the image on the pointer finger using the konad double stamper [I removed the rubber from one side and picked up the image and then transferred that to the remaining rubber side and then straight onto my nail. Ooh tricky! Well not really!]
And after 7 days [or really more like 10 days as I was showing these off for a few days before I started the series] since I got my gels put on we have come to an end. I have some obvious regrowth but apart from that  the colour is still strong and I have minimal tip wear and only one nail has a chip [my right hand pointer finger that always suffers when I have excess iProduct time!!]. Honestly I'm quite impressed and I can see myself investing in a kit/lamp in the near future as this has really helped with my nail art time and this week I didn't find myself getting frustrated or impatient as everything was so easy.

I hope this helps those considering gels [or even regular polish] some ideas to change a normal gel base to something totally different!
